» Warning about spam PM's |
Jan 22, 2010 - 10:57 AM - by Zenith
|
We've been having an increasing problem with spammers sending PM's. I'm in the process of implementing some measures which will hopefully prevent PM spam in the future.
In the meantime, if you receive a suspicious looking PM from a user unknown to you, do not click on any links within the PM. Most likely such links are just plain spam, but it's also possible the links could be far more malicious than that, so better safe than sorry.
You can report a PM via the button at the top right of the PM screen, in much the same way as a post can be reported. This sends an email to me which I'll act on as soon as I see it. However if the user who sent the PM has 'Guest' or 'Banned' under their name, that means they've already been dealt with so please don't report if that's the case.
Stay safe out there on da interwebz!

Apologies for the delay, but emails to hotmail addresses seem to be fine now, so if you need to register with a hotmail address please go ahead.

» Important! - Problems with new forum registrations |
May 26, 2009 - 4:57 PM - by Zenith
|
It appears we currently have quite a problem with new account registrations and hotmail. The reason for this I'm not too sure about yet, but I'd hazard a guess that the problem is at hotmail's end.
Until this problem is resolved, can new users please avoid using hotmail (or any other of the MS domains - live.co.uk/.com, hotmail.co.uk/.com, msn.co.uk/.com) otherwise there may be considerable delays in your account being activated.
A good alternative to hotmail is http://gmail.com - emails to the gmail service are getting there instantly (I know I've just personally tested it). It's free, has a better interface than hotmail, and hey, worst comes to worst it's just a temporary account to sign up to the forums with.
If you have already used hotmail prior to this post and haven't gotten your activation email yet, please use the Contact Us form which will send an email to me. I'll then manually activate your account. Or you could choose to sign up again with a non-hotmail address, whichever you choose.
If this situation changes I'll make a new post.
