Personally I'm getting a tad tired of the gold selling, forum spamming, B******s. Is it time we consider making all but one forum private. People can apply to join the Legion in the public forum and once verified by a known legionnaire can be given access to the appropriate forums?

p.s. yes, I am grumpy this morning. No, I didn't get enough sleep. Yes, someone has just come and compaint about a smelly fellow employee and wants me to deal with it. No, I don't have any soap to hand.

Well, at the moment, only members who have passed the two week initiation period can access the private forums, so new members would only be able to access the one public forum if we follow this course.

And yes, I am getting fed up with the gold spammers too!

Just treat it like you do the spam in your email...ignore it. It's usually pretty easy to spot. :) Unfortunately wherever you go on the intertubes spam is generally there along with everything else, it's just one of those things. As anti-spam measures get smarter, so do the spam bots.

At least our spam is relevant and we don't get viagra ads. :D

Or you could stop new members from posting at all until the two weeks was up and they became full fledged members .. just allow them to read stuff .. may sound a bit harsh but its only two weeks ..

Not sure that could be an automated process though Els, which could prove to be far more of a pain than just deleting the few bits of spam that we get. Honestly, we don't get that much, I've administrated sites and forums that get far more than we do. :)

I think we have enough admins as it is Indi, spam is never around for more than a few hours before it's deleted.
