Well last night, monday the 20th PL on draenor had it first full night ever aimed at killing Vael (ok so we killed onyxia first to get warmed up)
this was only our 3 rd night ever at attempting vael..both of the other times were after killing Razorgore (yes we have only killed him twice, first time 2 weeks ago..again only our 3rd attempt)
so we started the night off after a weekend of manic FR gear farming by warming up on Onyxia..interesting fight to say the least.
started hitting on Onyxia and 2 dragonkin come from god knows where..so while keeping the main tank alive and everyone else we proceeded to get rif of the 2 adds..then we get whelps. Definately not going to plan-)
kept our heads and got through phase 2 without any more incidents..and then WTF! fear fear fear fear..i kid you not..i have never ever been feared as much..lucky to get off one spell between fears for about 4 minutes...anyway Onyxia went down..and off we went to Vael (we killed razorgore on thursday)
Wipes ensued..but after every wipe there was a discussion to diagnose what went wrong..how it went wrong and what did we need to do to fix it. each consecutive wipe brought us a little closer..9%..5%..2%..1%..the last attempt of the night came..people potted up, again-)
everything clicked..at 6% it was obvious we had got the fight..although no on dared to speak..when Vael dropped we had approx half of the raid left standing..and yells ensued over TS.
some die hards were ready to pull a sicky and carry on to the next boss..but 3 hours of pure focus and concentration had drained most people.
well done to all who attended the raid and huge thanks to those guildies who didnt get to go but helped over the weekend and last week tirelssly making pots and helping with FR gear runs.
