Hey I've been away for a few days so couldn't comment after Rauru applied. I know we're not meant to post recommendations and whatnot but...

I would like to appeal against this decision if possible, I didn't have a chance to speak to Mene before Rauru applied so he wasn't in possession of all the facts when he made his decision.

PL is always purported to be a family guild, Rauru is virtually my family as he's been almost living in my house for about 10 years now. The reason he left his old guild is to be with his RL mates. He is not a random player seeking epics from a guild with increasing status, nor is he just someone that I group with from time to time. He actually spends a lot of his play time sitting right next to me and Nitrogen and making us tea when we whip him. I persuaded him it would be better to leave wiped than for me and nitro to leave PL as I believe this guild to be the best!! I therefore feel a bit responsible for him now being guildless. I have seen other players with existing family in guild be let in with no questions asked.

If we still are a family guild I beg you reconsider, if however we are now an elite raiding guild with a concrete recruitment policy I'd like to know for future reference.

Please don't treat this as a rant, this is a) application for appeal, or b) a request for direction of current guild policy.

our current policy of only recruiting certain classes is for one very simple reason.

we do not want to be in the position where guild members become dissalusioned of never or rarely getting a spot when we do raid..in essence we are protecting all exisiting members.

The class leaders look very carefully at what classes sign up for raids and in what numbers with help from the raid leaders and raid organisers. If we find certain classes lacking in our raid makeup constantly then consideration is given to opening recruitment for that class.

A recent application by a warrior who used to be PL and wishes to return and was backed by an overwhelming majority of officers was refused for the same reason..we arent recruiting that class at present.

i hope this does not come across as elitist..its purpose is far from that..we would rather carry on with certain flaws and idiosyncrsies (sp) of existing members/ friends than recruit only good, great..allready massively experienced and geared new members at exisitng members cost.

unfortunate..and yes im rambling..i hope this does not sour or put off someone who could be a valued member of phoenix legion..because once they are in they will recieve the friendship and protection that currently stops them joining.

I totally understand the situation re raids and that it's unfair on existing members to be excluded due to over recruitment. I just feel a little guilty for asking Rau to join us rather than us join him with the consequence of him ending up with the un-guilded "stigma." I guess he'll still be able to group with me and my brother (which is what we do a lot of the time anyway, regardless of which guild each of us is in). I guess he might also be able to raid with us from time to time as we do still find ourselves woefully short on people for certain runs.

I'd be very grateful if he could be placed on the list for immediate consideration should a slot become available. Would mean a lot to me. Also, as far as raids are concerned, due to his work hours he would actually be able to attend very few raids (they keep him there till 10pm the miserable gits). The main reason we told him to join was to have him in the same colours as us, not for his raiding skillz.

I do understand that times are changing in this guild and that you've had to tighten up on who gets in, even if they are a close personal friend.

as a few class leaders have said allready..in other posts..we are far more likely to recruit someone we know.than someone we dont..even if its only from our forums (as long as they arent dicks:tapedshut)

we are an evolving group of friends..some have been with us from Phoenix legions birth through various games Pl have been in...some are a few weeks or months new to us...the fact that we happen to raid when we can be arsed..and that without even trying are where we are means more to me than uber accolades or noteriety on the forums.

guilds like maelstrom..acheron..chim..poh, shinasu..ect are amazing..they do what they want and are damned good at it..im not saying i would like to be in one of those guilds..but im not saying i wouldnt either-)

but it would take nuclear size force to move me from PL...im rambling again (blame our IT peeps...they have got everyone paranoid about " reasonable usage")

in short..while there is no "top of the list"...things change and who knows what positions open up or recruitment changes may happen.

Hi, its me again. Just editting :) I'm still intersted in joining PL and I was told that one of the previous mages in the guild has now left. Just wanted you guys to know that I'm still lurking round here ^^ and to /w me or to reply to this post if anything crops up. Thanks guys :)
