i for the most part dont think GOA have done that bad a job on DAoC, and WAR it says somewhere that patches ect.. will all be at the same time for EU players and US, game to be released at same time blah blah blah
yeh but we can all just sign up for the US servers, it will just be quiet for us :)
but yeh GOA arnt as bad as they were, and really knowing how things went internaly most of the delays were due to comms between GOA and mythic as GOA could not change the server binaries so they would translate send it to Mythic, who would send the updated binaries back GOA would load a server test, make changes send to Mythic etc etc etc
also on the patch fron for DAoC, the US and EU games had different release days, EU was in Feb while US was just before christmas wasnt it. The point being we would be behind the US on that alone.
yes, the contract with GOA is to provide translated versions of the game, Mythic will release the US English version of the game to their own region (US) GOA will translate this for their primary markets (FR, GR, SP, IT) and as a bonus provide a server or two for UK users but in UK English which is why there is a delay.
Why wont GOA just put a copy of the US game on a UK server, because that's not what their paid for so the translation gets priority, and it helps that they have just the one multilingual version.
On the good side, this means we will stand more chance of getting beta invites for the guild given our history with DAoC and GOA.
true but it will be annoying having to wait... mind you as cat said there is always the US servers but how easy will it be to sign up for them?
I don't think it's a good idea to sign up for the us servers. As we wont be on at peak period so we would miss the pvp battles.

in other words, they're not gonna translate the game into german and french or so (I think)
GOA = bad.
They couldn't even manage to keep some forums open for us for DAoC, and the forum software they had before they closed them was about the worst I've ever seen.
Even if a game looks great, the fact that GOA are involved really puts me off :(

the internal forums are using phpbb you know the blue one everyone used to use :)
remember they had no staff, could only translate and take cash then pay the money back to mythic for the franchise.
so expect registration and payment issues, no live online support, and no forums and we'll be right :)

Q. What languages are being targeted for initial release?
A. Initially the game will support English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.

A. There will be several stages of beta and it has yet to be decided at what stage we will localize the beta. Otherwise yes, Mythic and GOA will ensure that players from Europe and the US have access to the beta before the game launches.

A. GOA and Mythic have a contractual obligation to collaborate and share all tools and techniques that both companies have developed over the years to ensure the same high quality of support to all US and European players.
Q. Who will handle distribution in Europe?
A. A distribution partner has yet to be selected. Mythic and GOA are working to select the best possible partner in order to ensure that the game will be readily available in every country across the EU.
Q. Where will European servers reside?
A. GOA has very successfully located the European servers for DAoC in one central data center near Paris. We expect this to also deliver excellent performance for WAR to players across Europe.
