A very good read.

Gemmell-esque heroic fiction where the Orcs are the good guys and the humans are the stain on the planet corrupting all they touch.

A nicely written twist on standard orc-be-the-bad-uns stories.

Had all three since they were published. Fun story, pulp-ish in content and the storyline/plot needed a little more work.

Kept them though and have re-read them just for the fun of having Orcs as the 'heroes' for a change :)

Likewise with the train journey's and I am re-reading The Farseer Trilogy to pass the time.

Liveship Traders after that and then the Tawny Man series. I just know I won't be able to stop re-reading them all :09: .

I had high hopes for 'Orcs' but felt a little let down in the end. I kinda felt the Orcs were basically portrayed as just 'humans who looked different'. Noble savages and all that. There didn't seem to be a lot of distinguishing 'orcish-ness' about them imho. Still, I'm rather a harsh critic tbh, it's a character flaw I have. If you'd have been nearby when I came out of the 3-hour abberration that was Peter Jackson's Kong, you'd have thought I was having some sort of fit.

I'm halfway through the 'Wheel of Time' series, but I'm having a bit of a break from them atm, just read books 1-6 and feeling a bit burned out. Good reading though.

Wheel of Time is like the Sword of Truth getting too long and professional in writing. the authors must produce some 400 pages every 3 months and are sacrificing the storyline to achieve same. Quantity and not the quality as you see in the books 1-4 of either series. Wheel of Time is good, Sword of Truth a lot better though :p Can make a few more suggestions if you want to read some and like this genre.

I read the average Novel in about 6+ hours [2 days of train journeys] i'm not after a literary masterpieces. Finding books in this genre can be a bit of a gamble, so any recommendations would be great.

L. E. Modessitt - The Saga of Recluse. About 11 or 12 books all set in the same world. I wasn't as impressed with the last 2 but the first 9 or 10 were great.

My other favourite fantasy authors are David Gemmell (especially the Drenai books), Tamara Siler Jones (only 2 books out so far) and Glen Cook (The Black Company series and The Garrett Files - his Fantasy Pulp Detective books)

I get through books very quickly :dazzler1:
