OK I'm posting it here just to get to everyone as some people still haven't requested access to Other Games!!! (click here to work out how to do it (http://www.plforums.co.uk/forums/announcement.php?f=54&a=1))

Come one come all to Ever Quest II, it's still fun :)

OK the guild is quiet, even for me, this isn't a game if you want to raid, unless we get loads of players back, it isn't a game if you want to pvp.

But if like me you loved Oblivion, but wanted to play a game with real people helping you do quests, explore dungeons in a game with one of the best graphics engines of any current MMO, given it's age, then come take a look.

It has a crafting community and economy, it's 4 years old, so most big bugs have been sorted, loads and loads of content, quests etc.

The guild is still alive, although levelling it up is slow with two/three of us on-line :)

Free trial: http://everquest2.station.sony.com/freeTrial.vm although you can't join a guild or trade with a trial account.

We are on the EU Server Runnyeye look for Snow, Barky, Catnip, Katnip or anyone else in Phoenix Legion or just pm me :)

The latest expansion gives you access to to all previous expansions, if your new 30 days free play and it's a bargin @£11.99 : http://www.play.com/Games/PC/4-/7523809/-/Product.html?searchstring=shadow+odyssey&searchsource=0

EverQuest II: The Shadow Odyssey contains:
- The Bloodline Chronicles (Adventure Pack)
- The Splitpaw Saga (Adventure Pack)
- Desert Of Flames (Expansion Pack)
- Kingdom Of Sky (Expansion Pack)
- The Fallen Dynasty (Adventure Pack)

Hmmm tempting. I'll have to check & see what server my toons are on (runnyeye or splitpaw) and might be joining you guys. However I didn't play the game for long, so my toons are lower lvl ones. Are you all going to be moving to DFO once it launches though?

Catnip

I'm not, and I don't think twinkelpie is either, it's quiet and it's casual, Twinklepie is new to EQ so I'm leveling a toon with him, were level 45 at the moment, but EQ2 has a wonderful mentoring system where high levels can simply join a group and then mentor a lower lever bringing them down to the same level as that member and giving the member a boost to their xp for a small xp sacrifice themselves. It's a good community and leveling is quick until around lvl 65/70 and even then it will zoom if your in a group or pair.

Ah yes the great mentoring system :) Not to mention appearance slots, best crafting I've seen, and wonderful graphics :D Luckily most of my toons are on Runnyeye, highest being a lvl 37 Conjuror "Elementus". Will be reactivating my account and patching/updating and hope to see you guys in-game soon. Hope I find it interesting again, and keeps me occupied till we find out what's goin on with DFO :)

I suggest you use these two addons:

profit UI (http://www.eq2interface.com/downloads/info4633-ProfitUIRebornUpdater.html)- custom UI with auto-updater install this after you get the game running

then install this:

EQ2MAP (http://www.eq2interface.com/downloads/info3509-EQ2MAP-AutoUpdatingVersionOfficial.html) - quest mapping POI thingy

Yeah that drove me nuts. Left it to download all day yesterday from work. Came home, logged in and was told that I didn't have any characters & to create new ones!! Figured out that I was accessing the US servers, had to change the language setting in the launcher to English (UK) and was faced with another couple of hours of downloads :(

Pulled out the original disks tonight. Its downloading as I type I'm going to take a look at least. According to EQII players I have a 21 pally and a 7 mage might be fun to do something different for a change:)

So, I was bored yesterday and decided to see what all the fuss was about in this neck of the woods and downloaded the trial.

So far I have to say that I'm very impressed! Once I'd successfully dealt with the shock of a game that was wow, and tweaked the ui/graphics (alternate player models ftw) to my liking, I started to discover some of the fantastic features that this game has to offer.

I particularly love the inclusions of neutral races which can be either faction, and that it's possible to change your faction, via quests or whatever and play as an originally evil exclusive race fighting alongside the goodies.

It's definitely showing signs of ageing, and the ui isn't as fluid as some of the newer games, but it seems to have a lot of interesting content to offer.

Anyway, I'm going to hang around for my free 14 days learning the ropes, and if once they're up I'm still craving more, I'll buy a real copy of the game and join you guys in there!

Hiya Cosmo

You sound shocked that you're enjoying it, I have to say I had the same thoughts. :D From what I've seen so far it's a very underrated game. There seems to be TONS of content to explore, and even at the newbie levels I haven't had a single yawn moment. So many games nowadays have a real lack of depth, EQ2 is mature enough now (without looking too old) to offer that.

I'm impressed anyway. :)

I think it's fair to say I am a little shocked. Last year saw me trying several different mmo's, all of which were lackluster to say the least.

Perhaps it's just because I entered into this with no expectations of what it should be like but I find myself enjoying this a lot more than others, i'm taking my time about things and exploring more, rather than just a mad dash to the maximum level.
