View Full Version : Warhammer Onlines responce and action method
I'm not sure how to explain this so bare with me.
I would like to know how Warhammer Online responds when you give it commands.
In wow when you tell the game to do something it attempts to do it instantly, but you can not stack up commands.
Where in older mmo's and the new Lord of the Rings Online when you tell the game to do something it would feel like it waits for a global server tick go off before doing what you asked, but you could stack up atleast one more attck to go off once the cooldown was over.
So my question is what method does Warhammer Online use?
Thank You.
Im afraid i cant awnser that question (havent played it) but i know exactly what you mean. Guild wars has the same thing, and it's very useful to "set up" your attacks etc like that.

Unfortunately, the NDA prohibits me from answering your question :(

No offence but i like the wow way. Setting up attack take some of the skill away from you, It feel to automated. And personally i think it makes certain types of raiding impossible where millisecond reaction time is needed.
I love LotR but because of the method LotRO used i found it very unresponcive. At time it felt like i could react faster than server/my pc could. Guild Wars was the same.
I know in wow you can get a different type of lag because of their method, which is also annoying but i would trade that rare lag for a more responcive method of playing anyday.

Yeah I hated that so bad! I feel sorry for anyone playing mesmer in that game. Also. It's not fun to hear ""#&#*#¤& Didnt you heal you !#¤"!#"#¤!?!?"
Well gee.. What about if the char Did what i told it to do?
So you're saying that all charging up needs to go? Or am I missing the point?

Not go per say. More like we should be giving a choice. Even though people may hate wow you have to admit that it is more responcive than other tradional mmo's. Don't get my wrong. These tradional mmo's do have a place in the world. They are great for the casual mmo player. I just think new mmo's need to keep up with technology and implement more responsive systems.
I hate that feeling that comes from older mmo's that my spell/ability only working once the server allows it. I like the extra skill that is needed to manually activate spells/abilities when needed. That way if you suck it's because you suck. not because the server is too slow. Age of Conan looks like it's taking the next step too. Giving people freedom to wield and swing their weapon anyway they like (but even that could fail if it has a slow response time).
That is why i would like to know what system WAR uses. If it employs the older, tradional method, as blasphemy as it sounds, i'll skip it. I spent over £100 on LotRO only to be totally put off by the slow responce the server had to my abilities (i feel sorry of any healer in that game). I'm not making the same mistake again.
The one thing i do know is that there will not be any jumping around and casting spells. You have to stay put to do that.
