» Link tooltips for WAR |

In the same way the forums have a snazzy tooltip for anything linked from wowhead.com for our WoW players, we now have the same for any item linked from http://wardb.com This includes items, spells, quests and NPC's. It's kind of in a beta state atm, it seems linking to NPC's isn't working too well. I'll update as instructions come though.
There are two ways to do this, either pasting the full link as you normally would which gives the following (hover over the link):
Item: Warlord Flamerobe
Spell: Demonic Fire
Quest: A Lords' Game
NPC: Argog the Unstoppable
OR by using bb code which gives the following:
Item: Item #435134
Spell: Spell #366
Quest: Quest #42828
NPC: NPC #41
For this method you need to know only the id number. For example, the link to Warlord Flamerobe is http://www.wardb.com/item.aspx?id=435134 - therefore you would write
Code:
[item ]435134[/item ]
and so on (without the spaces after the letter m).
You don't need to handwrite the code, there are also buttons on the WYSIWYG editor (though it's not available under 'quick reply', you have to click 'go advanced'). However, for items and spells when you input the bbcode yourself you can customise it a little so that it shows just text, or a smaller or larger image. See the bbcode page for examples.
Hope you all find this useful...it's just a little addition but a nice one I think.

» ...The Legion's Call...an Interlude |

Things were still going strong for the Guild back in 2002, Camelot was in the hands of the Alliance, marriages had become a weekly event

call to arms was breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and supper

But some guildies had itchy feet, time would come when members would leave for other guilds, some would swear loyalty to the last, others would jump ship for gold and glory[borg].
Somehow through all of this the core Legion worked on and on to keep the walls to Camelot free from Mids and Hibs.
But new games were now trying to get in on the act, following the success of other MMORPG's new games were coming in with the new styles of play, new worlds to explore and new mobs to kill.
One of the first for the Legion to go and play with was Asheron's Call 2 in November 2002
Many older members had been playing the original Asheron's Call before DAoC, and some were able to get into Beta testing for this game. Beta access was to become a common theme for the guild as games developers realised that communities of players was a great place for them to get attention and sell their games if they got good feedback.
A new world to explore, a promised crafting system allowing the players to build up ruined cities and to fight strange and wonderful things

the graphics were a major step up from the DAoC ones and the game had some potential, lots of nice spell effects helped the game look classy

Old members of the guild were joined by new players to MMORPG's and the legion continued to evolve taking on board the fact that while Camelot was still being played by the guild the new games were also going to attract attention and people would move on, but that no longer meant that members had to leave.
The guild became a multi-game guild supporting the members in any and every game that came along, the future was bright

In August 2002 the new PvP dungeon was added to Dark Age of Camelot, Darkness Falls, lots and lots of fun was had in the taking of Keeps to gain access to this little treasure trove of mobs and drops

In May 2003 PlanetSide was the first foray into space for the Legion

not so much of an RPG game but an MMOFPS with vehicles to play on and laser guns. A lot of members go very excited about the guns

there were a few quirks in Beta, for instance the ability to hold up a truck

with lasers blasting anything and everything

the Legion had a lot of fun and it was a nice change from the fantasy based games but of course there were still Hibs and Mids to slaughter and Keeps to defend.
Along came the Dragons:

until next time

» Error messages should be gone |

It seems the database threw a wobbly this morning and there were error messages all over the shop. It seems one of the database tables had corrupted.
I took the forums down for a few minutes and ran a database repair and all seems ok now thankfully, so it should be safe to come back.
Phew!
